Although this might sound spiritual or esoteric, it really isn’t. Did you know that people form perceptions about you based on your visual aspects? In fact, I believe it’s in the high nineties when it comes to visual presentation.

As a certified image consultant, I know that people form an understanding of who you are within the first three to seven seconds. In that brief moment, you haven’t even said anything; you’ve just walked into the room. They perceive something about you without even calculating anything. Where does this perception come from? It comes from your visuals—how you look.

There are certain things we can’t change; for example, I can’t change my skin color. Well, with technology, plastic surgery, and a bunch of other options, you could technically change everything about yourself. But let’s say you don’t want to change the essential, foundational things about yourself. You simply want to show up as you and communicate your message.

Based on what you wear, people will have a perception of you. They will form opinions based on your colors. In your marketing, they will perceive you based on your fonts and the pictures you use. All these elements communicate something about your personal brand image.
